Engineering Mathematics is the best-selling introductory mathematics text for students on science and engineering degree and pre-degree courses. Sales of previous editions stand at more than half a million copies. It is suitable for classroom use and self-study.

Its unique programmed approach takes students through the mathematics they need in a step-by-step fashion with a wealth of examples and exercises. The book is divided into two sections with the Foundation section starting at Level 0 of the IEng syllabus and the main section extending over all elements of a first year undergraduate course and into many second year courses. The book therefore suits a full range of abilities and levels of access.

The Online Personal Tutor guides students through exercises in the same step-by-step fashion as the book, with hundreds of full workings to questions.

K. A.Stroud was formerly Principal Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at Coventry University, UK. He is also the author of Foundation Mathematics and Advanced Engineering Mathematics, companion volumes to this book.

Reviews

Praise for previous editions and the Stroud approach: 'Excellent textbook. Very user-friendly for students with worked examples for explanation and consolidation of theory.' – John W. Glenn, Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education, UK
'The book is excellent. The presentation of each topic is superb. The various exercises and the [Online] Personal Tutor should greatly assist students in understanding the various mathematical concepts in the book.'– Gerard Driscoll, Cork Institute of Technology, Republic of Ireland
'The Bible. What more can I say?.' – John Greville, Swansea Institute of Higher Education, UK
'The best maths book I have ever read.' - Mohammed Elsari, North East Wales Institute, UK
Praise for the seventh edition: 'This is an excellent self-learning text. In a matter of hours the reader can go from almost no knowledge of a topic to a reasonable level of competence. I have seen no other text that gives the reader a basic knowledge in a topic so quickly, efficiently and painlessly.'

An excellent text for any student interested in Learning Engineering Mathematics. The numerous examples and practice after learning approach makes it stand out amongst other Engineering math textbooks. Honestly, I wish some very advanced Math textbooks follow the K.A Stroud Format of writing!
